From 2020, British Airways will become the first UK airline to offset carbon emissions on all domestic flights. Customers on domestic flights will have their carbon emissions offset by the airline and invested in carbon reduction projects around the world.

Carbon Emissions Are Already Falling in 30 Cities

Some of the most significant reductions came from London, Berlin, and Madrid, which averaged around 30% reductions, while Copenhagen lowered emissions by a dramatic 61%, according to a new analysis published by a coalition of cities known as C40.

China's ultra low-emissions policy worked

  • 20 Oct 2019

In 2014, China introduced an ambitious policy to rapidly reduce air pollution from coal-fired power stations. And now drops of over 70% in just three years leaves the country with much cleaner air.

The benefits of investing in zero-carbon cities

A new report shows low carbon measures in cities could reduce urban emissions by nearly 90 percent and support 87 million jobs worldwide by 2030.

Reactor turns greenhouse gas into pure liquid fuel

An electrocatalysis reactor built at Rice University, U.S. recycles carbon dioxide to produce pure liquid fuel solutions using electricity. The scientists hope it will become an efficient and profitable way to reuse the greenhouse gas and keep it out of the atmosphere.

Artificial photosynthesis transforms CO2 into liquefiable fuels

Chemists have successfully produced fuels using water, carbon dioxide and visible light through artificial photosynthesis. Green energy technology is now one step closer to using excess carbon dioxide to store solar energy.

New York, U.S. passes sweeping measure to reduce CO2

Big glass-clad buildings, must stop their polluting ways, New York City lawmakers say. The laws apply to nearly all large buildings, but they will have an outsized impact on commercial construction because they have the highest emissions.

UK plans to end of fossil fuel heating systems in new houses

The UK Government has announced plans to end fossil fuel heating systems in new houses from 2025.

New Mexico, U.S. to pledge 100% carbon-free energy by 2045

New Mexico is the most coal-heavy U.S. state and yet it is going to commit to its energy mix be renewable by 2030 and 80 percent of the energy mix be renewable by 2040.

18 Countries Show Decrease in CO2 from Fossil Fuels Over 10 Years

Eighteen countries, including the United States, Great Britain and several European Union members, have seen a decline in their carbon emissions from fossil fuels for at least a decade, a new analysis found.

Scientists turn carbon dioxide back into coal

Scientists have harnessed liquid metals to turn carbon dioxide back into solid coal, in research that offers an alternative pathway for safely and permanently removing the greenhouse gas from our atmosphere.

How to reimagine public transit and get people out of cars

From the perspective of passengers, the main features of a world-class public transport system would include frequent, reliable and affordable services; a single ticketing system, new low-emission vehicles; and high-quality waiting facilities.

Online giant plans to reach half of all shipments with net zero carbon by 2030. The new initiative is called ‘Shipment Zero’.

Artificial Leaves Grab Carbon Dioxide from Air

Researchers have proposed a design solution that could bring artificial leaves out of the lab and into the environment. Their improved leaf would be at least 10 times more efficient than natural leaves at converting carbon dioxide to fuel.
