A Rare Earth-Sized Planet in a Habitable Zone

TOI 700 e has been confirmed orbiting inside the habitable zone of its star, TOI 700. TOI 700 is a small, cool star (known as an M dwarf star), located around 100 light-years away from us in the Dorado constellation.

NASA's Webb Confirms Its First Exoplanet

Researchers confirmed an exoplanet using NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope for the first time.Formally classified as LHS 475 b, the planet is almost exactly the same size as our own, clocking in at 99% of Earth's diameter.

Update on the 7 Earth-sized planets orbiting nearby

A new study of the seven Earth-sized exoplanets around TRAPPIST-1 indicate that all 7 planets are extremely similar to each other in makeup, but potentially quite different from Earth.

An Earth-Mass Planet Without A Star Found

Once a star left the gravitational embrace of its solar system, its pretty much destined to drift through interstellar space forever. Astronomers call these drifters “rogue planets” and one of them have been found recently.

Researchers find exoplanet with pi-like 3.14-day orbit

Researchers have found an Earth-size exoplanet with a pi-like 3.14-day period. Whirling around its star at some 291,000 kph, the planet’s surface temperature is estimated at around 176 degrees Celsius.

There's an Earth-Sized World Nearby

The closest star to the Sun is a small red dwarf star known as Proxima Centauri. It is only 4.2 light-years away and is now known to have an Earth-sized planet in its habitable zone.

Earth-size, habitable-zone planet found

A reanalysis of data from NASA's Kepler space telescope has revealed an Earth-size exoplanet orbiting in its star's habitable zone, the area around a star where a rocky planet could support liquid water.

Astronomy student discovers 17 new planets

US astronomy student Michelle Kunimoto has discovered 17 new planets, including a potentially habitable, Earth-sized world, by combing through data gathered by NASA.

Analysis shows 1-in-6 stars may host Earth-size planets

A new statistical analysis shows Earth-size planets are likely orbiting one in six Sun-like stars. The study is the most accurate estimate yet, researchers say, of the potential population of roughly Earth-size worlds in the Milky Way.

18 New Earth-sized Exoplanets have been Found in Kepler's Data

Scientists working with data from the Kepler mission have discovered an additional 18 Earth-sized worlds. Among the 18 is the smallest exoplanet ever found.
